Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Today's Observations features a well-related Shadwell colourbearer.

MOTASHAWEQ (IRE) (Dark Angel {Ire}) is a son of the G2 Queen Mary S. winner and G1 1000 Guineas third Maqaasid (GB) (Green Desert) who hails from the family of Ghanaati (Giant's Causeway) and the Shadwell giants Nashwan and Nayef. Like the latter, the February-foaled bay is in the hands of Marcus Tregoning who interestingly introduced his subsequent G2 Mill Reef S. winner Alkumait (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) in this 12 months ago.
